Artist painting a detailed black and white portrait on canvas.

Artist Statement

Art, for me, is a dialogue—an opportunity to evoke emotion, spark

introspection, and challenge perspective. Each piece I create is driven by

purpose: to resonate deeply with the viewer and pull them into a moment of reflection, imagination, or discovery. I’m not interested in just depicting an image—I’m telling a story, one that lingers and stays with you after you walk away.

That dialogue is also internal. A lot of my work comes from navigating high-functioning anxiety, depression, and autistic traits. My mind is constantly active—thoughts overlapping, emotions stacking, everything moving at once. Painting became a way to slow that down and make sense of it. What I create isn’t just visual—it’s psychological. It’s me working through what’s happening internally and putting it in front of you. Growing up in Detroit shaped that mindset. There’s a rawness here, a resilience, a way of pushing through and creating something out of

pressure. That energy lives in my work. It’s not polished for comfort—it’s

honest.

My influences reflect that balance between control and expression.

Artists like Ansel Adams, Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee, Joe Madureira, and Kehinde Wiley have shaped how I see and build images. Adams taught me the power of light, atmosphere, and emotional weight. McFarlane, Lee, and Madureira pushed my understanding of movement, composition, and storytelling—how to make an image feel alive and charged with energy. Kehinde Wiley’s approach to portraiture, presence, and representation reinforced the importance of placing the figure at the center and giving it authority.

Through my work, I explore identity, resilience, and introspection. My

Thought Series, including Thought in Color, expands on this by combining figurative abstraction with internal dialogue. The titles act as thoughts, the figures hold presence, and the color carries emotional atmosphere. Every brushstroke, line, and color choice is intentional.

Not just to show you something— but to make you feel it.

Beyond creating, I am deeply committed to inspiring others to live

authentically and embrace their truths. As someone who once faced doubts and challenges about pursuing a creative path, I understand the power of art to heal, sustain, and empower. My vision is to foster a safe space for others to express themselves, whether through mentorship, workshops, or simply by sharing my story. I believe that when we live in our truth— unapologetically and authentically—we create ripples that inspire others to do the same.

Ultimately, my art is a testament to the power of creativity and resilience. It is a celebration of individuality and imagination, a reminder that even in our most challenging moments, we can find beauty, strength, and purpose. Through my work, I hope to connect, inspire, and remind others that their voices, stories, and truths are worth sharing with the world.
